DAY 1
Durrës is the ancientand modern town on the Adriatic Sea. The journey begins at noon, immediately after arriving at Tirana airport, and Durrës will be the first stop. The city founded in 627 BC has much to tell of its colorful story, beautiful beaches and attractions. We will have time for a short visit to the city and its Roman amphitheater and a drink in one of the bars by the sea. The journey continues in the direction of Vlorë, the city with a very long coastline that stretches between the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Dinner and accommodation are planned at a hotel with a special location by the sea, in Radhimë, near Vlora. Here you will be able to enjoy not only the view, but also the delicious cuisine. Wt.2 h
DAY 2
Boat tour around the Karaburun Peninsula Right. After breakfast, you will be driven to Orikum seaport to start the trip around the Karaburun Peninsula. Karuburun is known for its abundant nature attractions and its various archaeological discoveries. The first stop is planned at the cave of Haji Ali, located at the north end of the peninsula. For a long time, it served as an army base in the wars against the military vessels of Venice, France and England. If the sea conditions permit, you can visit the cave. Then we continue to the Sazan island, a former cold war naval base, opened last year for the first time to the public. Another bathing break is planned at the bay of Saint Vasil which lies on the eastern side of the Karaburun peninsula. Return to Orikum in the late afternoon and from there transfer to Dhërmi where dinner and accommodation are planned.
DAY 3
Dhermi:The characteristic village on the Ionian coast, and hike to Saint Andre bay. Difficult program: T2 +, Am50↑Dm ↓50, Wt 4h. This day begins with the transfer to Palasa, where the hike of the day begins. We will follow the path, which runs parallel to the sea up to Saint Andre bay. The view is magnificent, the terrain is not very steep and sometimes flat. This bay, which is totally isolated from the rest of the world, retains its intact natural beauty, the clean beach and the crystal-clear water. After a short swimming break, we will be transferred to Palasa on a motorboat, and from there to the beach of Dhërmi. After having lunch in a restaurant by the sea, we have planned a visit to the village, which is situated on a hill at 200 meters above sea level where we will arrive after a 2 km-hike. Dhërmi has many old houses with characteristic architecture and the ancient traces of the village belong to the first century BC. We will visit the monastery of Panagia (Panaia) and its church built in the fourteenth century and decorated with engravings of the time. Dinner and accommodation at the same family run hotel in Dhërmi. Easy program: All those who prefer the sea can stay on the beach. They can swim and sunbathe, or can even participate in a kayak trip. Games and activities on the beach are planned for the young guests. For all those who don't like hiking it will be possible to join the group at Saint Andre bay, travelling on a motorboat. After the swimming break there, transfer to Palasa on a motorboat, and from there to the beach of Dhërmi together with the other participants in the travel. In the afternoon the sightseeing program will be the same for all the guests. (B/L/D)
DAY 4
Gjipe and Jalë: two of the most popular beaches on the Ionian coast. Difficult program: T 2, Wt 5h, Am↑100 Dm ↓300 Early in the morning, immediately after breakfast, walking starts through a visible and not too steep trail that is partly running through olive trees to the monastery of Saint Theodora, which is built on rock. Few meters away the Pirates’ Cave, created by the power of the waves, is situated. The cave entrance can be hardly found because of the rocks that hide it. If sea conditions allow, we can even pay a visit to the cave. Hiking continues towards the bay and the beach of Ngjipe, where a break is scheduled for sea bathing. The landscape is very attractive, the beach is clean and the water clear and you can enjoy them in serenity. The canyon of Ngjipe is very deep and its vertical walls are appropriate for climbing. The last stop of the day is Jalë, which will be reached after walking through a partially steep trail. According to the plan, here we are having lunch, dinner and accommodation in a simple, but warm hotel. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the sun and the clean and warm sea, and in the evening you can visit one of the village bars or discos and enjoy the nightlife. Easy program: All those who prefer the sea to walking will be taken by car from the hotel to Jalë. There they can swim, participate in a Kayak or boat trip. Games and activities on the beach are planned for the young guests. Lunch and dinner are the same for the entire group. We take care of our little friends, if their parents wish to stay in the bar or disco after dinner and enjoy the night life.
DAY 5
Himara, one of the oldest centers of Christianity in Albania. Difficult program: T1+, Wt.4 h, Am↑ 80 Dm ↓80. The day begins with a short boat trip to the bay, which due to its calm and clear water is called "Aquarium". Before you start hiking to Himara through a visible and not too steep trail, you will be able to swim in the crystal-clear water. On the way to Himara, a stop is scheduled on the beach of Livadh. With its clean beach and the crystal-clear water Himara is an ideal vacation spot. The beach stretches from the city southwards to the small bay and peninsula of Spille. In this bay, there is a cave, which has inspired Homer in describing “Odysseus”, imaginary trip to "The Land of Himariotes". Lunch and dinner are planned in one of the beautiful seaside restaurants where you can choose between various dishes on the menu. Accommodation is also provided at a seaside hotel. Easy program: All those who prefer the sea to walking will be taken by car from the hotel to Himara. There they can swim, participate in a Kayak or boat trip. Porto Palermo harbor and the castle of Ali Pasha Tepelena.. The harbor has been one of the most important military bases during the Cold War. The tunnel entrance, where submarines used to anchor, is visible from the height of the road. The magnificent castle of Ali Pasha, built by him as a gift for one of his wives, lies on a small island. The view from the castle, over the whole coast, is wonderful. After a short break, we will be driven in the direction of Himara. Visits to some churches and monasteries, as well as lunch are planned there. SUPPLEMENTS
Rooming on tour & Single Room Option (Not applicable to self-guided holidays).
Most group tours are based on customers sharing twin-bedded rooms. If you book as an individual, you will be roomed with someone of the same gender. However, on many tours we offer the opportunity to pay a supplement to pre-book a single room. On some of these tours a single room will be provided at some of the night-stops but for logistical reasons not all. Individual Trip Notes clarify this. If, for whatever reason, we are unable to provide a single room as outlined in the Trip Notes, we will refund a proportion of the supplement paid to us for the Single Room Option.
Where you are able to purchase a single room, the price does not necessarily guarantee you a single room for every night of the tour.
All of our group tours are planned and operated on a twin-share basis, meaning that the standard cost is based either on individual travelers sharing accommodation with another group member of the same sex, or people who book together sharing accommodation.
Please refer to the tour notes where the single room option availability is detailed on a night by night basis for this tour, and the price for the available nights is detailed on the dates & prices tab by departure date.
For Self-Guided trips the Single Room supplement offers the option of a single room each and is charged per person. The Single Room supplement also applies to the third person in a party of three that will be accommodated in a single room.

Accommodation and service levels in Albania are generally very good. We try to use smaller, family-run hotels and pensions that might not offer the same luxuries as larger chain-style hotels, but they do provide a warm welcome, a comfortable place to stay and the chance to gain a better understanding of local life.
